I visited 3 new places last week

Hello from Dapoli!

I came to this beach town in Maharashtra yesterday.

Last week was quite fun. I spent 1 day in Udwada, 2 days in Daman and 3 days in Bombay with friends.

My couchsurfing host in Ahmedabad recommended Udwada, a small town near Daman and it was such a new experience.

Udwada has the oldest fire temple in India, Iranshah Atash Behram, a pilgrimage for Parsi people (they worship fire) built in 1742.

The fire is said to have been brought to India by Parsi refugees fleeing persecution in Persia. It is believed to be burning for over a millennium!

This sleepy little town has a different vibe from any other place I've visited- laid back, calm, charming. It feels like a small Parsi colony. Many houses there were built 200 years ago.

There's a black sand beach and some interesting food items like Doodh puff that I never heard of before.

For non-vegetarians, Udwada is a treat as it serves authentic parsi food. I tried some veg dishes and they were nice too.

I'd love to stay in Udwada for a couple of days, walk around and get to know Parsi culture but I was running short on time so left for Daman.

I didn't expect much from Daman as it's a popular place with a lot of tourists but it surprised me pleasantly.

It felt like a mini Goa with less crowd and better beaches. I never knew that Daman was inhabited by Portuguese too and has their architecture in some parts of the city just like Goa.

One part of the city (Nani Daman) is full of hotels and they seem to have some sort of obsession with lights. The hotels were so lit with all colours and kinds of lights that it felt like Diwali.

Good hotels are quite expensive there though. Probably because Gujjus go there to party and create a mess.

I loved the Moti Daman area which is on the other side of the Daman Ganga River and has the beautiful Jampore beach, a fort, some churches, and pretty cobblestone streets.

After Daman, I reached Mumbai, stayed with a friend for 3 days, played pickleball for the first time (loved it), watched movies and ate good food.

Yesterday, we started driving towards Goa with Dapoli being the first stop. The beach here is so pretty that if I didn't have a wedding to attend, I'd have skipped Goa to explore the beaches on the Konkan coastline.

On another note, I'm onboarding new clients for LinkedIn & Instagram personal branding so if you know anyone who needs help with generating more leads or scaling their business through social media, do recommend my name or connect me with them.

Apart from good karma points, you get a coffee treat from me whenever we meet :D

See you from a new place next week!

Love,
K

Hello from Yaakten! If you've missed the last few emails, this is a remote village in Sikkim where we're building India's first digital nomad village. I've been here for 3 weeks. At first everything was exciting - the fresh mountain air, the lovely weather, the kindness of villagers, the stillness. But as the days passed, the quiet started to feel a little too quiet.I found myself craving for some company. Someone I could sit, laugh and talk about life with. Not just company but connection....

Hello from Yaakten! It's been a week since I came to this village in Sikkim which we're transforming into India's first digital nomad village. Life here is quite simple. I have a minimal, comfortable & functional room with a work desk and hot shower.Wifi is fast - one of the best I've found in the mountains in 4 years of travelling and having it in this remote village in Sikkim is unbelievable. Weather is lovely, monsoon is in full swing. Not too hot, not too cold, just how I like it. Locals...
